Hi Brian
Your PLatycheirus is actually a Melangyna - probably M. compositarum/labiatarum
Regards
Roger
Thanks very much Roger. Was very lazy with this one - saw the pale bands as grey spots and didn't look much further. Given the pale bands and the rather shiny thorax I've gone for M. umbellatarum based on your (and Stuart's) brilliant new book.
