Lumphini Park, Bangkok

The start of a three month tour of Thailand, Laos and Cambodia started with a few days resting in Bangkok. Loved our cheap little apartment in Sathorn with its great selection of small places to eat and small town feel, close enough to Lumphini Park for daily visits. We stayed here three nights recovering from a bit of jetlag before joining the charity we were travelling north with.

This was my third year here and didn't see anything new but I really love birding this place among the joggers, tai chi and ballroom dancing.

Most remarkable was this huge Water Monitor devouring a massive catfish along with Large-billed Crows.

Large-billed Crow Corvus macrorhynchos

Black-crowned Night Heron Nycticorax nycticorax

Malaysian Pied Fantail Rhipidura javanica
